Passing the baton this Black History Month in the UK

Hello,
This month is Black History Month in the U.K. Since the 🇬🇧 raised me it’s only right that throughout October we show some love and respect. For the next four weeks, I’ll share simple business breakdowns about U.K. founders, problem-solvers, and innovators making things better for consumers - both in the past and today.
TreasureTress - Product Discovery Made Simple
What
TreasureTress is Europe’s first and largest natural hair discovery box catering to women and girls with textured or curly hair. The company today has also evolved into a thriving community focused on creating a safe space online and in person. Founded in 2015 by beauty entrepreneur Jamelia Donaldson, the company has gained popularity for its unique approach to delivering high-quality products and resources for individuals with diverse hair types no matter where they are in the UK and now Europe.
The subscription model is nothing new. However when TreasureTress started it was solving a big gap in the market for unsatisfied women and girls trying to find hair products that work for them. Still in many parts of the U.K. if you have textured hair it’s not so straightforward to go to a shop on your high street to discover new products. Legacy hair shops known for stocking 100s of products too often don’t also have in-store expertise to be able to advise and guide customers sufficiently.
TressureTress has changed this forever by bringing product discovery to the doors of a demographic that had long been unseen and underserved.
Why
Expert Curation: The company collaborates with haircare experts and influencers to curate monthly subscription boxes that cater to various hair needs and preferences. Subscribers can discover new products, brands, and techniques to enhance their haircare routines.
Flexibility and Options: Subscribers have the flexibility to pause or cancel their subscriptions at any time, ensuring they have control over their membership. The standard TreasureTress boxes can be delivered on a monthly, every other month, every quarter, or an annual basis.
Convenience: Treasure Tress simplifies the shopping experience for its customers by delivering a selection of full-sized haircare and lifestyle products directly to their doorstep. This eliminates the need for multiple store trips and allows subscribers to explore and enjoy new products effortlessly.
Community and Education: Beyond products, TreasureTress fosters a sense of community and provides educational resources to its subscribers. This includes tutorials, tips, and access to a network of like-minded individuals who share their hair journey experiences. The team hosts pop-ups to provide in-person experiences and hosts events such as the TT Awards to showcase the best hair and beauty products voted for by Black women (TT stands for Top Tier)
